Late June 2001

Strom Twenty Five.

I am barely recognisable right now with a suntan - having explored the Sonar festival in Barcelona and my installation 'The Spirit of Speech' opening in Valencia. None of that pale interior sound designing colour anymore!

In Europe our Sulphur Records compilation was released this week, entitled Compound. It collects together works from our catalogue as well as presenting vigorous sounds by new artists, including Two Lone Swordsmen, DJ Spooky,Jeff Noon, David Toop, and countless others. Available on CD at the cheapest possible price it has already been described as including "one of the most beguiling music oddities you'll hear all year in the cinematic collaboration between Future Pilot AKA and notoriously barking 70s rock svengali Kim Fowley" (Q Magazine).

My live collaborative CD release with Carsten Nicolai / Alva Noto entitled Uniform is out now exclusively available from the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco but will be widely distributed later this year once the show 010101 has closed. It subtracts the gentler passages of our extended three hour live performance and distills it into a cool packaged environment.

Rambert Dance Company in the UK are currently touring with a work 'Detritus' choreographed by the hot young property of Wayne McGregor of Random Dance Company that uses my soundtrack for the 24 minute work. Having premiered in London last week it will continue on tour through the next year so stay tuned if you want to catch it. I have enclosed the latest batch of UK performances.

My ScannerUSA tour begins next week in Mexico and moves steadily across the country. I will be returning again in October/November so will fill in many of the gaps I have missed this time round. I'll be carrying excess baggage beneath my eyes by the end of the trip I am certain, as well my fine accomplice on this trip playing at each and every show: the ghostly presence of Plastiq Phantom. We've deliberately chosen small modest venues so you can see the whites of our eyes as perform!

As ever, email remains my consistent companion so please keep in touch.
